I bought my daughter a Power Wheels 12V Jeep for her 4th birthday. I've head of people modding the motors and voltage to get more power out of them. I want to build a small frame with functional suspension and maybe a 55cc gas trimmer motor. How hard would it be to mount the motor? I know making it 2wd would be fairly easy but I want it 4wd. I was thinking running the engine in the back with sprocket on straight axle then running another sprocket on the rear axle that goes to the front axle with a sprocket making it 4wd? I would lift it and put a coilover type suspension under it. Has it been done? Can it be done? Anyone want to chime in?

first yes, anything can be done. If you want it 4wd you have some work ahead of you. I recommend you find an old 4x4 atv and get the body on that. Even then you would need to find a way to govern it down a LOT for it to be close to safe for her.
If not then I recommend these parts:
50CC atv motor
d-30 front axle, shortened up a lot
d-35 rear axle shortened up the same.
5/8 rod ends
car shocks with the little helper coils on them
you'll more then likely have to use the atv tranny and some how build a t-case to drive the axles.
with all I have listed, I still recommend the 4x4 atv to start with.

Go buy a $100 used go cart, shorten the frame down to the Jeep's length, modify all of the linkages and out an adjustable throttle stop on it.

thought about the same thing but with a remote control. get a windsheild wiper motor and use it for steering. search google for "super servo" it was in popular science so it may be on the net....
