Hello everyone,

Stumbled across this forum this morning while looking for a local 4x4 club to get involved with. I am relatively new to the area, moved down here last year. I have an '04 Land Rover Discovery that is my daily-driver and weekend play-toy. I don't get out to off-road in it as much as I'd like, but that's mainly because I don't know anyone locally to go out with! I am in the Florida Land Rover Club, but their member-base isn't very strong here in North FL and they only do 2 club-sponsored events a year. I had a great time at their Spring Rally back in April, and have been desperately wanting to get out more since!

My truck is lightly modified, a 2" lift, some decent 32" tires, rock-sliders, and bumpers are paid for and awaiting completion/delivery from a friend in PA. Can't wait to get the bumpers on! My truck has the CDL and even though it doesn't have front or rear lockers I have addressed the ABS-modulator/Shuttle-valve issues that are common on Series II Discovery models and have properly functioning traction control to work in unison with the CDL. I have been amazed at some of the things it has pulled itself through, especially up in KY & OH before moving down here!

I've posted a few pics of my truck, I look forward to meeting some members and getting out soon.

Cheers!

Thanks for the kind words. I don't have any imminent plans for lift. I wouldn't mind going a little higher, maybe with Rovertym's 3" lift, but anything higher than 2" on these trucks requires a great deal of consideration with regard to driveline, extended brake lines, etc. Plus, it's my daily-driver and family wagon... LOL

As for tires, I have a spare set of 16" wheels that I'm going to put a more aggressive tire on, I just haven't found a good deal on a set of tires yet and it's been relatively low-priority. I do plan to add a Mantek snorkel this summer sometime. After my bumpers get here and I can get them put on I should be able to sell the OEM front and rear for more than enough to cover the cost of the snorkel. A winch is also on the list of things-to-do, but relatively low-priority.

If you can fit 33's, there is a set of 5 on here for a great price...

33"s would be tight, but articulation isn't exactly a big problem in FL... I'll take a look. I've been on the lookout for a 265/75/16, and was considering something from these guys:

Only 265/75?? My liberty can fit those!! :icon_sport67: lol

But I've only heard good things about treadwright tires.
If I was selling my KJ I'd be getting a set of treadwrights for it.

Well, yeah, but the Liberty is a world-renowned hardcore trail rig. My truck's just a Land Rover. :P

Besides, if I go much taller with tires I'd have to change gearing to keep 10-speed bicycles from beating me off the line! :new_shocked:

Lovin the land rover.... Nice to see another on the boards. People really underestimate the places these things can go, and they can do it basically stock :)
